Housing NSW has announced a pilot project which has been put out to tender to selected registered community housing providers, to provide new generation boarding houses in three priority locations:
- Inner West (Sydney)
- Central Coast and
- Lower Hunter
Funding of $7 million is available which is anticipated to deliver a minimum of 30 units over the next 12-18 months.
The Boarding House Financial Assistance Program (BHFAP) provides other assistance to support the retention and or supply of boarding house accommodation. The Fire Safety program provides grants of up to $50 000 to assist operators to undertake essential fire safety upgrades. The BHFAP New Supply is a more recent program which provides grant funding of $10 000 per room for new generation boarding houses that meet the program criteria.
