A Personal Update from Faith Housing Australia CEO Rose Thomson
Dear Colleagues,
Sometimes life throws us unexpected curveballs. As many of you know, I’ve been navigating a diagnosis of blood cancer over the past six months. Unfortunately, the next stage of my treatment will be more intensive, and I will be stepping away from my role for the next 12 months to undergo chemotherapy in preparation for a bone marrow stem cell transplant.
While this is a deeply personal journey, I take comfort in knowing that FHA will continue to thrive in capable hands. I’m pleased to share that Amanda Bailey, our current Head of Advocacy, will step into the role of CEO during my absence. Amanda brings deep knowledge, unwavering commitment, and a clear vision for FHA’s mission. She will be well supported by our dedicated Board, and I have every confidence that FHA will continue to be a strong and effective voice for our members and the communities we serve.

This is a critical moment in the housing emergency. With the return of the Albanese Labor Government and ongoing engagement from State and Territory Governments, our sector has a unique opportunity—and responsibility—to drive meaningful change. We must continue to work boldly, collaboratively, and relentlessly to overcome the barriers that stand in the way of safe, affordable, and dignified housing for all.
This will require courageous leadership and the political will to prioritise housing justice and sustained investment for as long as it takes. I know that together, you will continue to lead with purpose and passion.
Thank you for your support, your partnership, and your shared commitment to this work. I look forward to rejoining you in 12 months’ time.
With warmest regards and hope,
